In the home of Bolette Nord & her family in Nørrebro

We are visiting the young family in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, who together have created a home filled with warmth and harmony, distinctly reflecting their appreciation for Danish craftsmanship and aesthetics.

Bolette Nord, a trained designer from the Design School Kolding, currently operates her own company, Bolet, specialising in designing and crafting jewelry.

Albert Hald-Bjerrum, a trained cabinetmaker, is one half of Bjerrum Beukel Snedkeri, specialising in crafting high-quality furniture, kitchens and fixtures.

Together, this young couple has cultivated a home that fosters presence, security, and tranquillity. Despite the spatial constraints of their apartment and the inherent challenges of raising a small child, Bolette and Albert have established a residence where meticulous selection and curation are paramount. Every element is thoughtfully chosen, and their aesthetic discernment consistently guides the selection of new additions. They prioritise a minimalist approach in their decor, opting for a restrained palette of materials and colours that contribute to a harmonious atmosphere. The inclusion of various wooden furnishings not only adds practicality but also infuses the space with a sense of style and sophistication.

The size of our apartment and the considerations of having a young child naturally impose constraints on our interior design choices. Therefore, the meticulous selection and curation of what enters our space becomes even more crucial.

Bolette Nord

Bolette reflects, "Our home is the cornerstone of our everyday lives, fostering an environment that cultivates togetherness, security, and a sense of relaxation. This holds true whether it's just the three of us or when we have cherished guests. The size of our apartment and the considerations of having a young child naturally impose constraints on our interior design choices. Therefore, the meticulous selection and curation of what enters our space becomes even more crucial.

Our fascination with Danish furniture craftsmanship and design has naturally led us to Fredericia. The J39 chair, an iconic piece, found its way into our home as a gift, while Jørgen Gammelgaard's Folding Stool captivated us with its elegant design, prompting us to include it in our collection. When our sofa was reupholstered, we combined it with a Mono Pouf in matching fabric.

When the Chaconia Chair by Nanna Ditzel was launched in conjunction with her 100th year celebration, we were certain it had to be ours. Its small size, lightness, and graphic expression make it ideal for our small living room. It complements the other pieces of furniture, particularly the coffee table we jointly designed, developed, and crafted."

A visionary design

The Chaconia Chair is one of Nanna Ditzel's designs that beautifully reflects her vision of creating a chair that enables free movement and interaction with the surrounding space. The lightweight and elegant chair with its characteristic curved expression was designed in 1962 but never put into production. To honour Ditzel's legacy and celebrate what would have been her 100th birthday in 2023, Fredericia decided to produce 100 pieces of this refined lounge chair.
